Summer Haze, a festival that was scheduled to be held in North Auckland’s Matakana on Wednesday January 4, has been cancelled due to the “incoming weather forecast”.

The festival, which was also held in Tauranga on December 29, was set to feature iconic Kiwi artists like Shapeshifter, Fat Freddy’s Drop, newcomer Black Comet and Australian band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

On Tuesday, January 3, Shapeshifter wrote on the Summer Haze Facebook page that the Matakana event had been cancelled.

“The health and safety of our crew and attendees are paramount, and the decision has been made in conjunction with the venue, production and promoter team,” the post said.

“We thank you for your understanding and patience while we work to secure the site and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Further updates in regard to the ticket refund process is expected “shortly”.
